We are thrilled to invite you to participate in the Student Training and Employment Program – Sacramento (STEPS), Workforce Development opportunity specialized youth program for students with disabilities.

This program is designed to provide support, training, and employment opportunities to students who may face challenges when entering the workforce.

Program Overview

  • Career Counseling and Guidance – Offering personalized career advice to help students identify their strengths and interests, and align them with potential job opportunities.
  • Skill Development – Providing workshops and training sessions focused on developing both hard and soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, time management, and specific technical skills relevant to various industries.
  • Job Placements – Partnering with local businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits to offer internship and employment opportunities tailored to the needs and abilities of students with disabilities.
  •  Self Advocacy – Understanding  the awareness of a crucial skill, especially in the context of career development and employment. In the realm of programs like STEPS, fostering self-advocacy can empower participants to take charge of their career paths and ensure their voices and needs are heard. Here are some key aspects of self-advocacy within such programs.
  • Mentorship – Pairing students with industry mentors who can provide guidance, support, and industry insights, helping them navigate the workplace and build professional networks.
  • Awareness and Sensitivity Training for Employers – Educating employers about disability awareness and the importance of creating an inclusive work environment.

  • Hands-on Experience – Gain practical retail experience, including customer service, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Training and Mentorship – Receive training in various retail aspects and guidance from experienced store managers.
  • Career Development – Learn conflict management, interview techniques, and other valuable job skills.
  • Networking – Opportunities to meet and engage with store managers and other professionals.
  • Compensation – Earn Paid Wages (Applications will be accepted starting January 06, 2025).

  • Age – Applicants must be the ages between 16-21 years old.
  • No Prior Experience Required –  Ideal for individuals who have an IEP or 504 plan, providing proof of disability.
  • Location – Must be able to work within in the Sacramento County.
  • Work Permit – Applicants under the age of 18 will need to obtain a work permit.
  • Availability – Must be able to attend a mandatory training sessions

  • Fill out and submit the required registration form below
  • Provide supporting document attachments for Approval
  • SETA Case Manager will follow-up after application is received
  • Onboarding and services will begin immediately after Review & Approval is granted
